double dip?

Robert Reich seems to think we are heading there and he offers some solutions.. I like what he's proposed, but I cannot see Congress or the President doing anything but playing more word games.. if we get to a double dip, it is going to be bad, if we default because of the debt ceiling, it will be world wide depression...

Just read this and will find the book.... is this the new reality? The real theme seems to be that we need each other... something many of us have realized for a long time...

At work there are rumors (more than likely true) that they want us to fore go all the rest of the raises that are scheduled in our current contract and they are not going to hire replacements for us who retire. Times will be tough in my city. There are poeple who will lose their jobs.

Hard times are here folks, cities are finding themselves with massive deficits. The state is wondering if they can get a bailout. This will be a deep recession, very deep. They don't want to use the word depression, but it will be close to that. Around here they think it may be 3-5 years to recover.

Transition... that is what is happening. Throw all concepts you have held dear out the door. There is a new paradigm now. You wanted change, you are going to see it. It may hurt, it is not going to be easy. Learn the new dance, learn the new song, learn to be self reliant.
Can you spell D-e-p-r-e-s-s-i-o-n..?

Watching the markets and realizing that no one knows how to fix this mess. One local city just laid off 110 people. This was to cover a projected shortfall of $10.5 million in the city budget. The governor wants to borrow $7 Billion from the Feds to keep California afloat. It goes on and on....

The city I work for is projecting a $24 million shortfall..
Weekend passed. Visited my 'hippy' friend, got some home grown tomatoes and discussed making some home brew from his abundant grapes. Got to Oak Glen and got some apples. Got to pick the last of the mulberries tonight.

Thunderstorms predicted tomorrow.

Tomorrow I should get my book "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' from Amazon. I've been looking at the Acer Aspire One mini-laptop but just can't justify it yet.

I guess I'll get out the chainsaw and wreck havoc on a few trees next weekend. Maybe I can work out my frustrations by killing a few trees that need killing.

This week will probably be hell.... no doubt.

Watching the stock market tumble....
