Father's Day..
As this is father's day, this is the second year without him. He died just after father's day last year, but wasn't aware of much at that time. This year is harder as there isn't anyone to visit. My Mom is having a hard time dealing with life in general, as he was her partner for over 55 years. Her health isn't getting any better and like she said, if the cancer doesn't get you the chemotherapy will. I'm finding that health care for seniors is a real crisis situation. Medicare doesn't cover all their needs, and even supplemental coverage lacks any focus. In most cases, doctors have an attitude that its just another patient, a senior citizen, and thus I'll do the minimum and hope they go away.
I'm trying to provide as much comfort to my Mom as possible, but as parents get older, there is very little you can do but cope with the crisises as they arise. My Mom has mild depression but will not take anything for it. She isn't honest with me about her health and when I get inquisitive she gets indignant.
I miss you Dad, and I love you Mom.
