Thanks for directing me to that article. Pretty crazy! Years ago, Rob used to bike to work but stopped for a variety of reasons, one being bike theft.

What I have learned about bike theft is if faced with two different kinds of locks, the thief will go for an easier mark. Therefore when I'm riding in an urban area, I carry a large U style lock and a cable, thus the thief has to defeat two systems and that makes me less of a target. I'm also very particular where I park, if it not in a high foot traffic area I won't park there. I want a lot of eyes watching. That also minimizes theft. Just some of my observations/ Be sure to have taken a picture of your bike and record the serial number too. This can aid recovery.
