my heritage

I come from New England and there people are defined by what they are, the lumberjack, the fisherman, etc. My grandparents were lobster fisherman. One thing I remember was that in the old days you had a hard life, you fished, that was you life. My grandfather built his own boats, as did his grandfather before him. I guess my love of the ocean comes from generations of people who sailed the sea. My great-grandfather was a captain on the Clipper ships that sailed the North Atlantic carrying goods and people from Europe to America. I have done a little genealogy and I have found French, Canadian (Nova Scotia and Newfoundland), American Indian (Penobscot and Passamaquoddy tribes), English and Dutch relatives.
