more on urban planning...

There are things that get in the way of better design, and these are planning codes written decades before that are still enforced today. Here is a review of a book about urban planning. Not exactly a hot topic around the dinner table but something that needs to be looked at. Of course the anti-Agenda 21 freaks will have a fit if we move to change from the old habits and urban sprawl, but change is something we must embrace to allow mankind to live as a viable species. I may try to find this book. As a student of urban planning and design (who ended up working in engineering) this has been a topic that always interested me. I'm glad to see it being examined and the results published. Posted on Dreamwidth
