Middle school was a time to learn how to fight and realize that the quickest way to stop a bully was to bloody their nose. I also learned that fighing wasn't always the answer but there were times when you had to to preserve your dignity and to be able to return the following day.
High school was different, I had a car, started driving at 16 years old, not some hand me down, but a 1957 Chevy Bel Air two door coupe. In California, and with our car culture, having such a car made a difference, it was cool, girls liked it, and everyone wanted to be seen in it. By the time I was a Senior, I moved on to the next 'cool' car, a 1965 Volkswagen Bug. I remember paying $1595 dollars for it, new! High school was good....days at school, times at the beach, gasoline at 25 cents a gallon.
