The holidays
The holidays are upon us but as I grow older they carry less meaning. I'll spend Thanksgiving with some local friends. Christmas is still to be planned but I don't see anything special. No kids and what remains of my family could care less about me. Not that that makes me sad, it doesn't. If i look back at my parents as they grew up I come from a long line if dysfunctional family relationships. I have good friends and that is much more important. I never was one for family and while that may have caused me to miss important events it didn't phase me. So I'll celebrate the holidays quietly and embrace a new year.
