another example of cops hiding behind the badge
Seems the officers involved in the November 18th pepper spray incident at UC Davis don't want an investigative report released to the public because it contains critical comment about the behavior of the officers involved and names names. Oh well, they can commit crimes but can't stand the heat... sounds like they need to get out of law enforcement. The cops should not have a 'shield law'. If they are accused of a crime, the public needs to know. If they are innocent, we need to know that too. Any action by a cop under the color of authority that violates standads of conduct should be treated as a crime and the officers need to face the public, just as any other member of society does. Are we going to have a double standard just so cops can be 'protected' from the wrath of public opinion?
