another view...

Read [livejournal.com profile] moomin13  for a good alternative view of the Gaza conflict... not the propaganda of the media...

Truth is relative as well as subjective.

Media = what exactly?

I have been listening to NPR.

Considering the inability of the news media to enter Gaza, I depend on what information that gets out from the humanitarian workers that are in there. There is a definite bias in this country to anything that doesn't fit our agenda.. 'we' support Israel, and that tends to taint the coverage in the media.

I also tend to listen to KPFK and Pacifica Radio too.

The problem is that KPFK and Pacifica ALSO have a glaring bias. And before you accuse me of not listening, I have listened and I did not like THEIR tone either. Much like I do not like the tone of the so-called main-stream media.

Also? It seems to me that some of the tone of your posts are making it seem as though Israelis don't want peace either.

At this point, Hamas is bombing, and Israel is bombing and invading and stuff. NEITHER side is right. Hamas also is committed to wiping Israel off the map. Yes, I am fully aware that Israel was created out of what was Palestine.

This is the world's worst dick-sizing contest. And the people who lose are the ones ON BOTH SIDES who feel that they are "entitled" to the land.

Yes, KPFK does have a bias, I'm aware of that, but it is one of the few places where I can hear the Palestinian side of the story. I didn't say you were not listening, I'm just presenting the other side of the war... If Israel really wanted peacce they would stop the settlements in the West Bank, open and monitor all the border checkpoints to Gaza, and allow food, water, medicine, etc (no weapons) pass.

I guess I don't see the arguement from Israel that they have a right to the holy land... they are but one of many religions that hold that ground sacred. I don't see them as good custodians of that land. They need to learn to live withing the pre-1967 borders of Israel.

If this offends some people, so be it.

Yes, it seems to me (my opinion) that Israel does not want peace. They have ignored a UN Resolution and have totally neglected any calls for humanitarian aide. Am I biased? Maybe, but I do read both sides, and listen to both sides and what I hear is a bunch of zionist zealots calling for the destruction of anything that is Arab. Unfortunately our government supports the Israelis. This will not change. All this conflict will do is further the cause of Hamas, and as Hezbollah found out, make them stronger. Israel must work for a lasting peace and a two state solution or we'll be forced to keep selling them more weapons. Both sides may be wrong but measure for measure, Israel is acting out of turn. Destruction of schools, medicial clinics, and universities is not a way to peace.

Israel was founded by a bunch of terrorists who fought the British and Palestinians in order to start a country.

Israelis <> Israel's government.

Some of whom are fundamentalists, etc.

I'm not saying that one side is right over the other.

I personally am tired of both sides doing things to intentionally provoke violence (yes both sides do it. If you think otherwise, I have no words...)

One other thing:

Your generalisation of Israel does not want peace..

What about Americans? If we take the actions of America's government to mean that is the will of ALL the people, what does that make Americans?

A bunch of hateful, greedy *CHRISTIAN* warmongers who speak with one voice. You and me included.

Now do you understand why I object to some of your posts?
