This article brings me to tears. I do not know when paying taxes became a dirty word. Taxes increase the quality of life for everyone. A friend of my husbands was complaining that Obama has raised his taxes. My husband asked him his income. He makes $25,000 a year. My husband patiently explained to him that the taxes have not yet been raised and when they are, it will be on those who make more than $250,000 a year. The man then said well, we don't want to tax the rich. Why not? How have people been so propagandized to believe that is not okay to tax those who are being paid out of proportion to what the economy as a whole can hold? We do get something in return for our tax dollars, except in the case of these ridiculous and tragic wars, but taxes should go for services. I do not understand this and it is tragic and sad. People are voting against their own best interests and are destroying compassion, humanity, and community.
