A French TV production company produced a television show where contestants torture a person.... ...have we become so 'unhuman' that something like this could actually happen?

Maybe we could use this game show format to solve our prison overcrowding, prisoners would plead their case and take the punishment rather than spending time behind bars. The voltages would have to remain non-lethal.
