more from Micheal Moore...

That speech in Madison was a spontaneous event, not something planned. Read the story here. The story illustrated how the media is part of the problem and another article mentioned by Mike points out that the White House is part of the problem, not part of the solution... the White House sees what is happening in Wisconsin as a distraction that is not part of their new catch phrase... "win the future"....I guess workers rights are not part of the future...

Some people here (in Russia) assume that States cancelled (or suspended) active military invasion to Libya because of Wisconsin's events...

How do you appraise the potential of ... independent socialist left movement inside US
(without historical ground and with strong spirit of american individualism)

I think that people are seeing our two party system as a sham. Both parties are bought and paid for by the corporations who do not seem to care about the 98% of the people who work for a living. Remember, we had a revolution before when we threw the British out and that was sparked by the strong spirit of individualism. A few people with the willingness to put it all on the line I have hopes that change will occur peacefully, or the future revolution may be much more violent.

it is sham, it is clear

but where is the social base of the changes, at least changes? Lawers, white-collar workers, IT-workers, brokers?

Even if we remember about (very distant in time) War for Independence, the enemy was clear: British monarchy.

But the same widespread spirit of individualism considers your economical faults as your _personal_ faults, not faults of the System. And such spirit blocks even meditation about social unjustice.

What is happening is the working class (including a large percentage of people with college degrees) have lost a lot... they have no job, they have lost their retirement savings, they have lost their homes. The enemy here is the financial institutions and bankers who betrayed the trust, and crashed the markets, and the economy. No, the focus is the top 2% of the economic spectrum.

I think people are feeling cheated, and now they see the people at the top as the focus of their anger. Our media. once a force of change is now complicit in the crimes against the working class.

The American people are complex, some are active and participate in the political process, others are so disconnected that all they care about is watching the lies of the media and following sports teams. they are living in a daze, totally unaware of what is happening in the world. Some, such as the political fringe (the Tea Party, and some Republicans) are living their prejudices and trying to destroy the country for their own delusional goals. They are the hypocrites.

We are at a critical point in the history of the United States, we are either going to see the rebirth of a government of the people, or a slide into a fascist government where the people are repressed. If it becomes the latter, then it will be a while, but eventually the people will resort to a violent change.

Going back to an original question you had.. no, Wisconsin had no role in not confronting Libya... what the United States is doing is waiting and watching what s happening in the Arab world. We supported a lot of the dictators that have fallen and I don't think we know how to approach the people in these countries as they have a real suspicion of our motives.

But people's discontent and even anger dont' mean that it will not be channeled in wrong way. Also they may just accuse black boy on the top of official structures (according to some experts it's his main role). He will be main culprit. And all will be the same. Do active part of american protesters have something else in their minds besides the same cpitalism (but with "good" and "generous" corporations and officials)?

>no, Wisconsin had no role in not confronting Libya...

Yes, may be Wisconsin is so negligible that it didn't affect African plan.

>what the United States is doing is waiting and watching

It is curious moment in my opinion. You totally distrust official media, but at the same time accept it's position about "waiting and watching".

But from aside it looks absolutely obvious that Arab revolutions were inspired by American (and possibly British) specservices.

And now as Kaddafi resists, they openly support the rebels.

Yes, the people who become the 'elected' officials usually are not even aware what the real people's lives are like. Are they corrupt? Yes, because after they get elected, their goals change... and the new focus is to stay in power.

I look sceptically on the whole system of so called "democracy" around the World. Politicians, who forget interests of their people not only "corrupted", but first of all they serve interests of corporations and banks.
And the deception of "elections" are just the part of "spectacle", when true power (corporations) put responsibility on fictive and temporary power (officials).

But the difference is that we saw alternative and the deception in our country is more rude, but in your country such deception is more complicated.

The control of the media by corporations and the government is totally ignored by the bulk of the citizens, because the corporations and government fear revolution, but it will happen. The people are slowly waking and the people are saying enough is enough. It is sort of interesting that the uprising is occuring in middle America..
