Once the economy revolved around the worker. The worker was key to productivity, people had jobs, companies exhibited loyalty to those employees they valued. Now we have management who know nothing about the companies they manage. We have bean counters who look at labor as a liability, not an asset. We talk more of stock values, capitalization, and the Dow and all these do not depend on production but on the bottom line. Labor is a dirty word, unemployment is good, a dividend and stock options are more important than a good product. Remember this on this Labor Day Weekend.
