Today winter came back to remind us that it was still in charge. We had rain earlier, then added very high winds (50 mph +). Now we have a blanket of white and it is about 20 degrees outside. Inside, I have the wood fire going, I'm eating my newly made bean soup (ten bean with ham and stock I made earlier by boiling a ham shank), and all is right in my world.

Woke this morning to more snow... temps are currently around 30 degrees outside. he snow is melting but it is not warm. A bit of wanderlust today, but where is it warm?

The sun is out, snow is melting, but it is still below 40 degrees. My 'driveway' is going to be a mud bath, and the road in will be so too. So the car stays parked for a few days and the truck becomes the vehicle of choice. Took a bike ride, slip slidy style, had fun. Got out my snow shovel and cleared a path...now the soup is smelling like lunch, the fire is warm, and the day has promise.

It is cold (below 20 degrees) and I have snow, about 6 inches on the ground. Considering I'm at 4000 feet and have to climb to 4800 feet to leave this valley, I'll be here for a while.

The pipes froze last night so I'm iving on bottled water and the 10 gallons of spring water I have. The stove is trying to get hot, the coffee is done. A soup is cooking in the crockpot.
