It seems we have a new class of citizens in this country, the warriors. As part of the move toward war, the media has taken the military man, the local policeman, the local fireman, and have elevated these people to this new class. Now President Bush will be giving pep talks to these citizens, encouraging them to be brave and be ready for the battle, to be willing to sacrifice all. My only warning to this group is this, the government has a bad habit of forgetting you once you return and are injured or disabled. Ask the Viet Nam vet, the Persian Gulf War vet, and even the Korean War veteran. This is the same administration that is making cuts in Veterans Services. If this government is willing to fight the war, we must be sure the government will support both you and your family when you return.
As a city employee we are required to operate and have a balanced budget, the county has to have a balanced budget, the State is trying to have a balanced budget. President Bush doesn't have a balanced budget. We now have a massive national debt. When will the ugly inflation come to haunt us?
