Lately the tensions in society have been running high. The World is full of hate, hate for other cultures, hate for other religions, hate for institutions, hate for individuals. The current climate of fear, and misunderstanding is going to mead us down a long and difficult path, full of much anguish and pain, I do hope the good in humankind can survive such an onslaught of evil.
I work in an environment that is composed of people of different cultures and backgrounds. My co-workers are Burmese, Vietnamese, Persians, Arabs, Hispanics, Filipino and Anglo-Saxon. The religious beliefs span from Catholic, Coptic, Islamic, Agnostic, Methodist, and Buddhist. The colors range from black to white to brown to yellow. The big difference is we try to understand each other, sure we have made some cultural blunders, but we apologies and move on. Others in our large organization comment on how well we work together.
We all have one thing in common, we want to live in harmony and do our job well. We all cherish family and subscribe to some belief system. We all have mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, homes and apartments, and bills to pay.
Much is the same in the world. Everyone struggles to survive, to feed themselves, to find shelter. Much of the evil in the world can be traced to our leaders, be they elected, appointed, or rule by force of arms. We are perceived by the egos of our governments, not by the people we are. We are sometimes driven by the dogma of our leaders, but in the end we see through the dogma and see that the 'other' side in human like us.
Many people have predicted or written about the 'end times'. Since these times are very close to what others have described, some have decided to play the political games this way. I can only hope that there is some divine wisdom or power that shows these leaders the folly of their ways before many innocent lives are lost and people are consumed by hate.
I have tried to put my feelings down this morning, I'm going to think some more and may come back to add to this or to delete it all, but for now I can only pray that we find peace and hope that no harm comes to anyone who loves and cares for another.
