A pleasant drive from work, at first sunlight and warmth, after about 10 miles, I could see the fog, still above the deck, but fog, none the less. Turn right on Pacific Coast Highway, California 1, the favorite part of the commute. Sometimes negotiating the traffic can take time, but looking off to the Pacific makes it all worthwhile. Past Huntington Beach, the pier, the true Surf City. Further along , past Bolsa Chica wildlife refuge, into the community of Sunset Beach, past the places stacked tightly along the beach. Crossing the bridge over the inlet to Huntington Harbor, the Navy was loading weapons on a warship, a common sight. The weapons are part of the landscape just inland. Next comes Seal Beach, then another bridge, left at the marina, over another bridge onto the island, left again and home.
