time..

At this time in the history of this nation we need to reflect on what principles we will follow to carry us through the coming century. Somewhere at the end of the 20th Century we seemed to have lost our moral compass, becoming the 'world tyrant instead of the beacon of hope for all oppressed people. We went from being the most admired to the most feared as a result of the actions or inactions of the current regime in power.

This change was the reward of years of planning and organizing by forces that do not see 'democracy' as anything of value other than an excuse for their aggression. The 'Dominionist' within the Executive Branch have dreams of being the only superpower, and so we will wage war on anyone who challenges us. While talking about the spreading of democracy, we in turn fail to recognize true democracies elected by people in free elections that don't fit the Bush Regime 'World View'. You cannot change things by calling people names, change comes through dialog and compromise.

As we approach the anniversary of September 11th we need to be reminded that living in fear is what the terrorists wanted and what the Bush regime was more than willing to supply. Sure, 3,000 people dies that day and what have we done since then? We have killed tens of thousands of Iraqi and Afghan citizens who had nothing to do with the actions of Osama and his cohorts. We have invaded Iraq under the pretext of an U.N. Resolution, bombed Afghanistan because they would not turn over Osama Bin Ladin, installed two puppet regimes (Iraq and Afghanistan), and fostered hate in the Arab world (and most of Europe too). We have provided the best terrorist training facilities for future terrorists in Iraq. We have started a 'war on terror' yet have been powerless to catch the 'mastermind' Osama Bin Laden. That doesn't sound like the 'war on terror' has been too successful, does it?

Get ready for more rounds of 'war talk' as the Republicans sell fear as their platform and the Democrats stumble their way to power.
