Apathy and death...
Sep. 18th, 2006 06:38 amWas listening to the new John Mayer album and the song 'Waiting for the World to Change" says it all. Why is it that we have a generation that is siting back waiting for change and not participating in the process to make change? The level of cynicism is very high among the youth of today. Maybe in my youth (yes, that was long ago) we had more life or death issues (a draft was killing us in great numbers) to have concerns and be willing to act. Maybe what the youth of today don't realize is their future depends on their action today. Sure, they have no draft, but wars have a tendency to spawn other ways of killing. If their is no future, no jobs, no education, no food, no clean air, corruption, and all other manner of evil about, death of the spirit is followed by death of the soul. Wake up kids, your parents have crawled into a hole and died, they can't face the truth. Are you going to follow in their footsteps? If you can't face the truth that it is time to stand up and fight for your future, then you're doomed to be slaves of this corporate culture and become one more cog in the wheel of corporatism, exploiting the world for your morning latte.
