dealing with...

Mom is suffering from a bit of a memory problem. She has the great fantasies about the neighbors, about fighting crime, about her past. Have you ever heard of 'sundowner syndrome'? Its when the day ends and the mental illness comes to the forefront. No, she is not a danger to herself or others. But having dealt with this when my dad had dementia, I'm taking the usual precautions. So, more and more of my time will be devoted to 'mom care'.

The weekend... so far....

Done the shopping. Went to the lower desert, enjoyed the warmth. Tomorroow I'll actually start work.  Work...work...work. 

I'm disappointed...

It seems there are those in the Democratic Party who want to keep the same old song going. They are so against change they will do anything, even to the point of sabotaging a Democratic win. I cannot support Hillary, period.  I feel she'll be the choice of the establishment Democrat powers, and will go on to alienate the independent vote, thus delivering the Whitehouse to McCain. 

Some talk by McCain and Clinton have said that Obama is elitist. He is not (my own personal opinion), and sometimes when he speaks the truth, it hurts. However, he is a black man in a white nation with a long history of racial tension, making it easy for his opponents to 'label' him. Will race play a role in the election? I think it will, because the Republicans will unleash the attack dogs, those 504's and 527's, the 'swift boat brigades'.  Can America elect a black man as president? I hope so.

Local gas in Anza, $3.88 for regular, in Temecula $3.69 for regular. I'll see $4 by the end of the month. 

Cage fights at the local Indian casino tomorrow at noon.  This town has culture, don't you think?

Water wars (the current battle for water rights between the local native americans and the local somewhat americans) goes on without me. I live about 1/2 mile outside the boundary of the watershed in question. It seems the local native americans are looking for another source of revenue. Gambling was not enough. Watch for this battle to make the prime time news.

BTW, the chief of the Los Angeles Army Corp of Engineers says the toll road through the San Onofre State Beach is a bad idea and that the toll road agency did not present the views of the corp of engineers truthfully.
