It's Wednesday, and I took a mental health break. I called in and left a message that I was not feeling well, and that was mostly true. I was suffering little aches and pains, little signs that I needed a rest.

It's hot here. Too hot to do anything outside.
The Republican politicians see the writing on the wall. They know their time at the trough is getting short. It's time to give and they plan on making the best of the season. They want to give the oil companies some gifts, more access to the north slope, and the ability to drill off the coast. Their excuse is that they want to help the energy crisis but fail to mention that no oil will get to market for 7 to 10 years. Just a simple gift to the oil companies.

Whay I'm really waiting for are the pardons Dubya is going to hand out. Karl will get one, so will Alberto Gonzales. I figure he'll pardon Libby, and most of the other members of his administration. Hey, he has to give cover to his crimes.
It seems we are blessed (or cursed) in this country with a dumb electorate. They have no understanding of economics, science, and totally lack basic common sense.

For example, Bush wants to open the coasts to oil drilling. Do people really understand that it won't make any difference in the supply or price of gasoline for their obscene SUV's?  It will take 7 to 10 years to come on line and by  then the world price will be approaching $200 a barrel.

McCain wants a gas tax holiday. This will mean less money for road repair (like we really need to let our roads fall into disrepair) and amount to approximately $30 in your pocket (that is a couple of large pizzas for the dumb shits who will vote for him) . No real gain, no real answers. That's the Republican style.

Now we have given a new wedge issue to play, gay marriage. Not a real issue, but another issue to mobilize the fundamentalist/Christian/redneck voters to vote for the man who'll say them from the destruction of the family. Like I said, a non-issue except in the narrow minds of those dumb voters.

Then there are those who think we live in a democracy, sorry guys and gals, we live in a republic. We don't directly elect our president because the framers of the constitution didn't think the voters were smart enough to do that and besides we didn't have mass communications then.

No, I fear November. I see another Republican regime all because of the dumb electorate voting their narrow minds on non-issues. This country is going to hell fast.
