Still driving the rental car, I'll get my car back tomorrow and immediately start shopping for a truck. Got stuff to haul, things to tow, so even in this day of gasoline at $4.50, I'll buy a truck.
It's going to be a used one, a small one, maybe new, maybe used, all depends on what kind of deal I can swing.
BTW, a G6 Pontiac is a pretty good little set of wheels.... I'm getting 24.5 mpg in an upscale sedan that has a lot of power when you need it. It handles well too.
I don't remember if I posted this before but I was driving another rental this week, a GMC Envoy... another solid performer... only 23 mpg though.
There are signs the economy is really hitting the skids, we are under a hiring freeze. If someone like me retires, I may not be replaced. And I work in the public sector.
Hey, just recently they issued a memo saying that some of our 'employee gatherings' were being canceled because of the budget. No more chili lunch, no more pancake breakfast... that means the managers don't have to stand behind a hot grill and cook for us lower class employees.
Mom is having fun with thunderstorms and we got real rain last night, I even had to use the windshield wipers.
There is a 'Balloon Glow' tonight in Temecula. I'll probably miss it and concentrate on trying to grab a picture of lightening.
The housing situation in my area is getting grim and grimmer... new homes selling for under $200,000.... so many foreclosures you can take a bus tour in Temecula that lasts for hours....$1,000,000 homes going for half price. Does anyone really need six bedrooms and 5 baths? There are some even bigger than that.
More later, but I got a meeting to attend and facilitate at 2 p.m.
