The long goodbye

The last week I have been a good friend to a lady I met over a year ago. At first she was a bit reluctant to share her past but as we got to know each other I learned a few things. Last night I got a phone call from her. She was wanting to go home today to see her cats. Unfortunately by 3 a.m. things had changed. She is now not responding but her vitals as still good. I spent most of the morning talking to her, much as my Mom talked to me when I was in a coma. I never heard what my Mom said but I did come back. I'm hoping that she heard me and I know God heard my prayers. If she doesn't come back I wish for a better journey without pain and with that warmth and love I do experience I had when I died. I'll miss you Mary... I'll miss you a lot but I don't want to see you suffer. When I said goodbye last night I didn't think it would be that final goodbye. She will always be in my heart.
