... time is relative, sometimes like a ghost, there one moment then disappearing the next. The evening/night/morning has been a mixed bag. Coffee, an occasional donut, reading, exploring, doing finances, reading some more. I can highly recommend the latest issue of Rolling Stone... some of the best writing in years. They talk to Dylan, and you get some insight into this man... then they write about Tyson...brief but insightful. I always read it cover to cover. I guess its the old hippy in me...

I need some new music... (as if I already had enough that I'm constantly discovering something hidden in the back of my iPod)... the new Dylan is needed, same for the new Neil Young.  Jane's Addiction intrigues me... just re-listened to my Zack Brown Band CD... I love it.  Ill have to look for Yusuf Islam's latest... you may remember him as Cat Stevens (if you are old enough).  The man found religion (Islam) and was added to the terrorist watch list (so much for freedom of religion).

The weather outside is frightful, not a good day for photography. It's dark anyway and I got a lot of stuff to do around here. Yesterday was wasted on mom's mental state.

The days are dwindling to a precious few. At work they sent a preliminary announcement via email that my retirement is imminent and the party will be on the 21st of May. That will be the official good bye. I don't burn bridges but will take a few shots during my thank you speech.

I know I 'owe' a lot to friends.. if you only knew what a day in my life entailed. I'll have much more time after retirement, along with a lot less income. I'm going to focus more on the quality of life, and appreciate what is around me more. I live in a remarkable place, with trails, mountains, lakes, and wide open spaces.

Oh, and there are those who cannot live without broadband, well, I exist in rural america, a land where dial-up is norm and high speed is seeing 56k. I just glanced over at one of my bookshelves, part of the collected books my Dad and Mom gathered. Silent Spring, Green Pharmacy, Salt 2... I have the whole Salt series... just a few of the titles, along with everything ever written by Euell Gibbons.  I got more, in boxes. I'll review my Mother Earth News... I have all of those....Now I'll have time to read.

Gee.. its almost 4 a.m.  I guess I'll catch some sleep.
