a debate that needs a national forum...
Mar. 19th, 2010 06:27 pmIn Britain there are very public demonstrations about police seizures of cameras and the arresting of photographers.... now the battle has landed in America..... I've had more than one occasion where a law enforcement officer has objected to me photographing a building, an arrest or a crime scene. In each case I refused to comply, quickly produce my ACLU membership card, and they backed off quickly, but in turn started photographing me.... they have, on occasion written down my name and address, and asked if I was with local media... and to that question I have told them I freelance... no arrests so far, but I'm probably on some list somewhere. That reminds me, I need to renew my ACLU membership.
