Made a quick trip to the gate to unlock it... got to be ready for any unannounced visitors. Answered my phone to talk to Steve, my old hippie friend.., he's been out enjoying his Datsun 2000 roadster, has it running good. He's amazed at the radar detector I gave him, he says it has saved him some grief already. I'll be doing some photo work soon, a friend of Steve's son has been making a doll, from scratch, by hand and Steve said it look amazinf, so we will hook up and take some pictures. I'll share them here if I get the permission to do so. Got to go to Idyllwild to get my latest bike for my collection. Got to mail my ballot and go to the UPS store to mail another package. Oh well, life goes on here... not as good as I would like but life is keeping on keeping on.

Seems the President and First Lady are coming to visit Los Angeles.... you can see them too...

Lunch at with the President at USC..... at least $500

or you can attend a concert with the First Lady and Dr. Jill Biden....

Concert is at least $100

or lunch with the First Lady at Steve Bochco's place....

Lunch is at least $1000....

All this money is for Barbara Boxer....

If you have money you can get in the door, otherwise expect to be kept at a distance. Oh I love how people's candidates have such high values...

I remember when he was running for office... events were free... and people came to cheer.... nowadays access costs. I wonder how it will be in 2012?

I'm being brave.... alarm is set for 6:30 am. I'll make a trip to the local swapmeet. I may drop by a friends place, take a bike ride and really do some work around 'el rachito'.

Had a chance to talk to a former co-worker today. Times are tough in Santa Ana. They are now giving up 20 workdays a year. That's 20 days without pay. They  will not see any pay raises for the next few years. There is talk of additional give backs on the horizon if the situation doesn't improve. I also heard a rumor that my boss will retire soon. Of course the politicians who run the show haven't sacrificed, no, not them.

We have a real political battle in Orange County. Incumbent Loretta Sanchez is being opposed by Van Tran. It is a battle of the Hispanic community against the Vietnamese community. Loretta is a Blue Dog Democrat, and Van Tran is a ultra conservative Republican. I know from living there there is no love lost between these groups. Having had political conversations with my Vietnamese co-workers I can say that they are still fighting the communists, they don;t believe in free speech, and they have had problems integrating into the fabric of American life. If Van Tran goes to Congress you'll see someone that makes the right wing seem moderate.

Oh well, I guess if I am going to get up early I better think of sleep.
