We are fast approaching that time...This link was posted in the green party community on LJ. We could probably save the shortfall predicted if we stopped playing policeman to the world. We also need to bring back the nationwide 55 speed limit, and make it easier to use public transit, walking, and bicycles. We need integrated systems, bus, shuttles, rail, bike programs, walkable cities.

Welcome to the new normal, as we face the results of our shortsighted political system.

The target right now is public employees in Wisconsin, but don't feel that if you don't work as a public service employee you are going to escape this. This is corporatism at it's purest. The corporations want to remove benefits and bargaining rights from all workers. They don't want us to have any tools to challenging the corporations. We are quickly moving towards a fascist state, where the military/industrial/financial complrx owns everything, including your rights. This is a brief look at what life will be like between now and 2012. In 2012 we have another chance to fight back, but in the meantime the corporate whores will work hard to place roadblocks in our way.  The class war is on...

Don't want your job? There are employers who are using people, then discarding them as it they we just disposable commodities, without any value. This is how corporations see workers. When will people realize that what little benefits they have they can thank a union member for fighting and sometimes dying for that benefit. The right to organize, your lunch hour, paid sick leave, vacations, unemployment, maternity leave, basic health care, workmen's compensation.... all thanks to unions. The right wants to reduce you and this country to Third World status. They want to create a fascist state where the owner class (corporations) run the show and you have no choice but to submit to the tyranny. Think, do you want this? If you don't, take time to fight back, stand in solidarity with those under attack. Organize, and unionize.

I just read this article on a fellow bloggers post ... and wanting to see wider distribution, I'm also posting my comment and a link here. We are in crisis, and I'm not talking about the deficit. I'm talking about a Congress that doesn't serve the people and is hellbent on destroying the country so they can fashion their own little fascist state, where working people are but serfs to the oligarchs. Class warfare is being waged on working people, on the elderly, on the youth of this country, on those who are less fortunate. The two percent at the top are trying to enslave the remaining 98 percent. It is time for 'people power'. start by actng locally, then going up the chain, till we strike fear into those who think they hold the power. They are stealing our future, much as they have stole our wealth, our savings, our homes, our jobs, our health. Are you ready for the fight?

It was a somewhat sunny day and with an approaching storm system, time to make a run off the hill.  Of course any run included some stoops at bike shops. I went through Corona with a stop an JensonUSA to shop a derailleur for my newest mountain bike.  I wanted to upgrade, so I did. It should allow the bike to shift a bit crisper, making gear changes easier when needed.

I went through Orange County and made a stop at Performance Bike Shop in Aliso Viejo. for a quick look around. I spotted a pair of nice fenders in the bargain bin, buying a  $34.95 fender set for $15. I have a bike to use these one, so I'll install them soon. Pictures will follow.

On to San Clemente and a stop at iCargobike to see if they had any freeradical cargo bike conversions in stock. No such luck, but they did say they would notify me when they arived. BTW, they were having a closeout sale on all Dutch bikes, and were selling a few cargo bike floor models at discount. If you are in the market, these people are really good.

Then it was a trip to Oceanside, then some shopping. BTW, today I bought my first $3.49.9 a gallon regular gas. This was at the cheapest station I found as most were already at $3.54.9 a gallon. Then it was homeward bound, to a cool/cold Anza, with groceries bought and staples restocked.

That was my day.

To borrow a line from a Bangles hit, it looks like the revolution that started in Tunisia and then Egypt, needs to occur on our shores.
