today...

Went on a short, fast bike ride. Covered 8.16 miles at an average speed of 16 mph... Max speed was just over 26 mph. This was on my road bike, something I haven't been riding enough. It is taking some re-adjustment, as the bike is a lot faster, and ride is a lot stiffer ( I prefer a steel frame), than my other bikes. The tires and wheels were replaced yesterday, with my 'fast' wheels...aerodynamic rims, bladed spokes, sealed bearing hubs, and tires that run 120-140 p.s.i. . They roll very well, but the ride is very stiff.

I did realize that I need a better (more comfortable) seat, as the riding position is more hunched over with more weight on the hands and butt. I'm using pedals that lock in the shoes, in this case they are by Crank Brothers, and e shoes are semi-pro level cycling shoes. I'm now just another cyclist in spandex and bright colors speeding down the road. Hey, it's a fun way to work out.

My bike is a Scantante R330, 27 speeds, and weighs a bit under 20 pounds. I've posted a picture earlier.

Prop 13

Jul. 10th, 2011 10:16 am
Ah, at last someone is willing to start the discussion... Proposition 13 has served the public little (ask anyone who  bought a home in the last ten years) and has help corporation who were the chief architects behind this measure.  It hasn't helped renters, and some people are now upset when they see the schools gutted, libraries close, and the infrastructure crumble. The reform I'm talking about will kill the 2/3 requirement for a tax increase, and take away the loopholes that business uses to keep their taxes low at the expense of homeowners.  Posted on Dreamwidth
