Yesterday morning I departed on a fishing trip to my local lake. I loaded all the gear I was going to haul and then drove my truck to Lake Hemet Market. I purchased some essentials and some worms and made my way to the public side of the lake. I offloaded my gear and loaded my cargo bike. I then rode along the access road almost to the dam, and then down a narrow, steep ravine to the shoreline. The spot was great, the fish loved the worms, but I was just doing this trip for fun, so it was a catch and release day. I got two good sized trout in an hour from this spot. I will be back later this week.

The real adventure was getting back up the hill, that steep ravine became a weight lifting exercise, as I pushed and pulled my bike loaded with gear up to the access road for the return to the truck.

Yesterday I had an interesting problem occur... I had an adventuresome squirrel in the house. Sometime while hauling stuff from the house to the car, a squirrel got the urge to explore the house. I noticed him when I went into the living room and saw a bushy tail dart behind the couch. A chase ensued and eventually he departed through the front door. With all my wildlife in the yard and a total lack of predators, these animals get brave. I've had rabbits on the deck (who knew rabbits would climb stairs). Most animals here are not bothered, but squirrels are the exception, they are frequent targets of my pellet gun. Now after invading my space, the assault on them will intensify. I may just start using 22 caliber snake shot next.

This might have a bike theme but the principles are applicable everywhere.
