When I'm 64....
Aug. 22nd, 2012 06:59 pmWhen you are 64 years old, then life takes on a new path. I've been mulling over my Medicare options, even though I've been retired since 2009, seems there is a lot more to this life. I'm debating becoming a nomad, I'll use my sister's address so I have a place that can be called home, but a nomad none the less.I got to get out of where I am now, someone will buy it if the price is cheap enough, then dispose of one car, do some changes to the truck, make sure there is room to sleep, a rack to hold a couple of bikes, and then go off in search of the meaning of life. I had time to wander around in the 80's, and I long for that feeling again. Hey, if you are going to live, you really should live the life you want. Doing some serious thinking about this... got things to do, people to talk to, and I have to check if this is really possible in this day and age.
I know that eventually I'll be too old to do this, but by that time I will hope to find a place I like and settle down into those years when you really start declining. When that day comes, I'll decide how I want to check out. I see that now as a long way off. Maybe fate has other plans, I've had curve balls thrown at me before. I do know that I want to enjoy seeing, I want my senses excited by new smells, the feeling of the sun warming my face, the feel of frost nipping at my nose. I want to see fireflies in the evening, to see the aurora borealis, to taste the salt air, to savor the smell of a well prepared meal. Life is more than 'settling down', really boring to me.
We will see where this goes.
