May Day

May. 1st, 2013 09:42 am
This is May Day... the history behind this day is an interesting mix of mythology and politics. It has pagan roots, and that was my first introduction to this day. In New England there was a tradition of the May Pole Dance and May Baskets..

Later in my life I was very aware of May Day because in Berlin there was always a big parade in Communist East Berlin with displays of military hardware and mass demonstrations against the West. During that time in my life I was a person who lived for the American way, little did I know it was such a corrupt and evil system.

Now we have a few diversions to what May Day is. Obama gave a proclamation on 'Law Day' to commemorate this day. This from a man who calls hmself a Constitutional scholar and ignores the same document as he prosecutes whistleblowers and gives kill orders to his drone army.

Then we have 'Loyalty Day', a relic of the anti-union 20's, when oligarchs first ruled. It was created to create a premise that if you were one who marched for workers you were disloyal. It still survives to this day.

Some may say I am a bit harsh, but I feel that something must be said because silence is the capitulation to the system and the wrongs around us. I find it strange that so many people are happy to live their American Dream.  I feel I have a limited time on this planet and as I have time and resources the next few years may be interesting.
Using sedation and escapism for relief from the rat race might make us less aware (blissfully ignorant) but also less empowered to improve our role within the rat race… a vicious cycle of cause and effect.
