It has been a while

Sorry for my absence. Life tends to throw curves and I'm getting more involved in local politics here. Much more than I ever was. Some of the people I know are not the types most people would think I would associate with but you meet some interesting people in "low places". One character I knew was a would be gangster, a young thug. He won't be around for a while as a judge just gave him 13 years in prison to think about his choices. I hope he survives but considering his temper and lack of self control I doubt it. Locally we gave established a local crime watch on Facebook and the sheriff is coming to talk next Wednesday about our concerns (they were reading our posts). The drought is having an impact here. It will be interesting to see how people react when the local agribusiness company starts pumping water and irrigating crops as wells go dry. I expect the locals will lash out in a forceful fashion. I find it amazing how many of the locals are so brainwashed by Fox News that while seeing their food stamps cut or their veterans benefits cut they blame Obama. I see rural America and it ain't pretty. It is a mass of ignorance and bible thumping gun owning idiots are everywhere. Around here people are just surviving. It us not uncommon to see poverty. On the healthcare front I doubt if 5% have health insurance. Sure some are on medicare and dome are on state assistance but no one is willing to get insurance even if it was free because it was a program passed by a black president they didn't vote for. Yes we have racism here. If you are black, hispanic, or native american then you will experience it. Dumb white men predominate. Some if not all consider themselves sovereign citizens or libertarians but none would claim to be progressive. Living here us like watching a bad sitcom with a cast if characters any producer would die for. Rural amerika is another world. Pot growers, meth labs, tweekers, alcoholics, and thieves all living in a symbiotic environment. Such is life in my corner of the universe. In the last few years I've gathered enough material for a few books. Maybe I need to start writing.

I'm fine. Health is okay. Just getting older.
