Remember this

I can remember when we would do the March of Dimes campaign in school. Polio was a threat we faced every summer. A local kid got it and ended up in an iron lung. Then I remember when the first vaccines came out. The Salk vaccine was the first. Everyone got that. That was followed by the Sabin vaccine (the sugar cube). For a period of three years everyone in the nation was immunized. That marked the end of polio as a threat to kids everywhere.
