That situation reminds me, in part, of Paul Verhoeven's 2006 film Zwartboek -- based upon a true story involving an attorney who kept meticulous records regarding those with whom he came into contact, in German-occupied Holland during the war. Having a black book can be quite dangerous, as you've pointed out!
