This weekend was a weekend of little accomplishment. Except for
increasing my carbon footprint and adding miles to my tired car, I did
little around the house.

Friday was spent shopping, a trip to Hemet and Temecula, buying the
essentials, including dog bones for my four footed friends.

Saturday I did the long trek, a circumnavigation of the San Gabriel
Mountains. From Temecula to Cajon Pass, then Hwy 138 to Palmdale, Hwy 14
to the San Fernando Valley, then I-210 toward Pasadena, then onward to
San Bernardino, then Hwy 243 to Idyllwild, and back to Anza.

Sunday I made a trip back to my favorite spot in the Palomar Mountains,
visiting the observatory, and checking the damage from the fire in 2007.
I made the trip more exciting when I made a wrong turn and traveled down
the Nate Harrison Grade Road, a one lane dirt track from 5300 feet down
to Pauma Valley. Not a road for the faint of heart. There is something
special about the Palomar Mountains, a sense of peace I find there. I
will have to spend a night on the mountain in the near future.
