I'm a bit tired of all the hoopla about 9/11. Sure, thousands died, and it was a horrible incident. But, did it justify what we did in the Mideast? How many more died fighting a war based on lies? What about the assault on our freedoms, the Patriot Act? I see 9/11 is a victory for the terrorists, it left us living with fear and willing to forget about the rights of citizens all in the name of "security". Bin Laden is dead, and he was even sUrprised by how we reacted. It was attack aimed at the financial sector of the economy, and as a result, the banks won, the warmongers won, the fascists won, and the people of America lost.

It is fine to memorialize those who lost their lives, but it should also be noted that that day marked the rise of the Neocons and the Conservatives that have thus destroyed the American way of life. That day marked a time when our government would say torture is legal, it marked a day when the government spied on it's own citizens Of all the crimes committed since 9/11, not one of those people who approved torture, or the spying, or the illegal wars has seen a court room. Ever notice that George W Bush does not vacation in Europe? They (Europe) consider him a war criminal, thus he can't visit without risking arrest.

9/11 started with a glow of patriotism, and an outpouring of support by the world. We squandered that feeling to become almost hated as much as the terrorists for what we did next, the wars, the renditions, the spying, the prisons and black sites. We collaborated with governments like Syria, handing over human beings to be subjected to torture, all as a way to 'extract' information. How many died, we may never know. 9/11 spawned Abu Graib, it spawned the destruction of Iraq. We killed untold thousands of civilians, and fueled the hated of America. Now we face terrorist in Yemen, Somalia, and other parts of the world, people filled with hate for America for what we did in the wake of 9/11.

No, to me 9/11 marked the begging of the end. The end of our democracy, the end of freedom to assemble or protest, that start of the police state we have today. No, I will not be celebrating 9/11 as Patriot's Day (the official holiday). I will mark the day praying for a return to sanity and humanity in this world and an end to the state of fear that has governed us since then.

It was a sad day, but I will always remember 9/11/2001 as the day we started becoming a police state. On that day (9/11/2001), democracy died.

My most relevant post about 9/11 occurred a few days after I had digested the tragedy...
