I'm dissapointed...

I'm very disappointed in the mentality of the American voter. We have come to accept and expect politicians to lie, to cheat, to womanize, and to what ends? We accept that when they lead us astray. We praise their actions as they kill the innocent in an effort to finish what your daddy didn't. Wasn't that Rummy shaking hands with Saddam after he gassed a few thousand Iranians? Wasn't that United States dollars that were given to Osama Bin Laden to make trouble for our then 'enemy' the Russians?
In California we have a recall campaign where we are attempting to recall a democratic governor who won the last election and replace him with a make believe superhero who by his own admission has sexually harassed women, and even though he himself is an immigrant, wants to establish English as the official language of the state.
I'm very disappointed that during my travels I discovered rampant political ignorance in Middle America, racism still alive in the New England, and widespread acceptance that what ever the President does, it is good, and to criticize his actions is unpatriotic.
What have we become? Are we becoming the same souls who stood by as the Nazis first persecuted the Jews? We have the new 'prison/concentration camp' at Guantanamo Bay. We have the military tribunals. Would it be so hard to build 'relocation camps' as we did in World War II. Think not, if Ashcroft had his way. Now we have the fox (Ashcroft) watching the hen house (1600 Pennsylvania Avenue), looking for someone who blew the cover of a CIA operative who just happened to be an expert in nuclear weapons and their parts, whose husband questioned the 'intelligence' presented by the 'President' (that title may or may not really be his) speaking to the United Nations (an agency devoted to world peace) asking them to sanction 'his' war.
How long before we wake up from this nightmare?
