That old building has some interesting history. I was a new modern design when it was built in the late 20's, with a full steel frame and a stone facade. It came through the 1933 quake with very little damage and was upgraded shortly after. The interior is beautiful, with oak and mahogany walls, tin ceilings, and tile and marble floors. Many of the apartments have been restored to the original grandeur. It was one of the first co=op apartment buildings on the West Coast, much like those in New York, you buy in to the building and pay a monthly fee for the amenities. The apartments are listed for sale occasionally and get quite high prices because of the location. I liked Long Beach when I lived there, it is such a vibrant city and it does trat seniors well.
