Has the country gone crazy?
Today in the coffee room, one of our Egyptian/American/Christian co-workers could not help but make a derogatory comment about the Democratic Convention and some of the speakers. It seems that this person thinks that George Bush is God's gift to the world. I wonder if these people remember the principles they studied when they looked at our Constitution? Did they learn that we have separation of church and state? Did they learn about the First Amendment? Did they learn about tolerance? Do they believe that lying is an acceptable behavior? What do they base their moral character on? Is it because they were Christian in a Muslim world?
I remember a little over a year ago when there was a big incident in Little Saigon, when a video store owner was driven out for displaying a portrait of Ho Chi Minh. The Vietnamese community felt this was not to be allowed, forgetting that we have freedom of speech in this country. They returned to their past, with revenge in their hearts. They were suddenly back in the home country, fighting an enemy that was now the government in Vietnam.
These are people who will vote for George Bush, as they see his actions as right and proper. They do not believe in dissent. They bring with them the values of their home country, some good, some bad. I have been told that we have too much freedom, I disagreed.
