Now if Obama would just spend some time talking to the people, or spend some time being more of a populist president he might get more respect. We see him in California as he flashes by on his way to fundraising events in Beverly Hills. When he first came on the scene he was greeting people in South Los Angeles. He has not made one move to address the moves by the State of Wisconsin to hurt unions. He needs to make a visit to one of the occupy camps. He has become just one more talking head who does the bidding of Wall Street and the bankers. Look at his staff, and you find CEO's from GE, and Goldman Sachs. He has so bought in to the money culture. Why does he sound more like a Republican now than he did a few years ago? The work he needs to get done is to work for the people, not more free trade agreements or busting pot clinics in California. Why hasn't his justice department done something about the foreclosure fraud? No, he has a problem that he needs to deal with, and he has to do something before 2012. If he was to get behind the people they would get behind him, but most I know feel betrayed.
So instead, what... you are not going to vote in 2012? I have heard people who are "discontent" with him say that is exactly what he is going to do.
Or are you going to help an independent essentially help get someone like Herman Cain, Mitt Romney, or Rick Perry elected as President? Remember Ralph Nader in 2000 and 2004?
Should Mr. Obama go to the OWS encampment? Sure, but he also has to work with the rest of the world, and right now the rest of the world is trying to keep Greece and Italy from defaulting.
I think the message Mr. Obama got last election was that he was not trying to do the people's work because otherwise his allies would have gotten elected/re-elected.
And then there are the people who are screaming that he is a Nazi and a Socialist... and a Fascist... or not of the US...
I think he could do better too, but I also think he is trying to do the best he can with what he has right now...
That's exactly what he is going to do. Some people just don't understand that THE PRESIDENT CAN'T LEGISLATE. His appointments, his proposals, his initiatives, everything he has tried to do has been filibustered and or watered down by Republicans and fake Democrats in Congress, but this guy, instead of working to get Obama a liberal Congress, is working to tear the whole thing down. sigh...
No, I'll probably vote for him because in this country we are stuck with a two party system and I see nothing from the Republicans. What happened to Congress was the fact that Republicans turn out to vote while a lot of Democrats don't. The independent vote (an ever increasing number) tends to be issue voters and a lot of them have a narrow focus. If they don't see someone doing as they want, they vote him out. In my area there are no viable candidates for congress from the democratic party. They are all in hiding as they don't want to face the Republican money machine we have locally. As for Obama caring about the world, he needs to care a bit more about what is happening here. Let europe handle their debt crisis, even though a failure of greece or italy will bring down quite a few on Wall Street, let them fail. No, we need Obama to be more of a leader, not a pragmatist. He needs to get less cozy with Wall Street and start spending more time on Main Street. He has not been spending much time talking to Californians lately, except for the leite few who can pay $30000 plus for a chance to talk to him. He is a man of words but the words he is using seem to be the same words that the republicans are using. He needs to stop exporting democracy and start supporting it at home.
