Long Day...long weekend

curmugeonStarted Saturday morning looking at a list of what I wanted to do, finally the list made it to the document shredder. I went to the garage, unloaded some old junk from the trunk of the car and left my place.
One of my hobbie is amatuer radio, thus June 23 and 24 was 'Field Day'; a day when a large number of clubs and indiviuals set up temporary stations in locations and operate on emergency power for 24 hours as if simulating an 'emergency'.
The first place I visited was in Mission Viejo, and was far from rustic. Nice green grass, shade, and a whole bunch of people having a whole bunch of fun talking with other people around the world talking on their radios.
I did see one form of radio communication I want to try, it is known as slow scan television. In fact I witnessed some pretty amazing transmissions on 21.340 Mhz at midnight, when the station made contact and exchanged pictures with each other. One station in Mission Viejo, CA and another in Japan.
At the end of the weekend, I was going to visit a computer 'swap' but forgot to check the calendar, thus it is next weekend.
Monday at work felt like Monday. nuf said.
