It's been too long since i made an entry here. Just returned from COMDEX, a real disappointment. If you wanted to see how dead the dot com economy was you just had to attend. Large displays of offshore talent, ready to do the work once done by the imported talent the industry was hollering for.

If you saw the displays, the PC was relegated to a minor role, the big thing was wireless, wireless everything. Don't have a life or any time to yourself, be connected 24/7. But all this lack of freedom comes at a price, the same connectivity can tell you your out of a job because the company your working for is now going offshore.

Roadtrip

Spent the last five days putting an awful lot of miles on my car. I started by driving to Zion National Park. Spent the better part of a long day seeing and preserving memories. I must have taken 80 pictures in one day, a record for me. I then spent Sunday evening in Mesquite Nevada, staying in my $19.95 hotel room. I then proceeded to depart Monday moning about 9 a.m. toward Las Vegas. I was heading to COMDEX, but after hearing the news of the plane crash in New York, I optted to visit Death Valley instead. Great solitude and the desert was aawsome, but the weather was showing signs of a storm approaching so, back to Vegas and my hotel. Tuesday was COMDEX, see the other post. Wednesday was taking the long way home.Went through Pahrump, home of Nevada's legal whorehouses, then to Death Valley Junction, a small town with a real opera house, then to Tecopa, a great place for a free soak in hot water, then to baker, home of the worlds largets thermometer, then to I-15 and back home.
