Some days are better than others, some are just too long. Spent the better part of Thursday at the hospital emergency room with my Dad, seems my worst fears are not what I seemed (alzheimer's), but the diagnosis was that he was having 'mini' strokes. He's home now with my Mom and I am working on getting him some better health care.
Finally got the final piece of my divorce behind me, when I separated my retirement from the share awarded to my ex-wife. My plan set up a separate account for her and moved over the community property share with interest to her. For a short marriage, (less than 5 years) she got over $12,000! Wasn't it nice of me to have a good performing retirement plan? Now I can only hope she has the sense to keep the money in the plan as she has no plan as of yet. She need to keep this as a college fund for her son. Next time pre-nups.
To top off the week, I have a friend who is working on his treatment plan for colon cancer. He found out too late, and as such they are proposing extreme therapies. He's going to be getting a second opinion for the Norris Cancer Center at University of Southern California. He has made one good choice in that he's taking an active role in his treatment. I urge people to get a colo-rectal exam. Don't put it off. I'm due for a follow up this year. I didn't think there was a problem, but I had two large polyps removed. Both were benign but better safe than sorry.
And... my old room mate should have had his double heart bypass operation on Friday. Haven't heard anything yet, so I guess I'll check later today and see how he's doing.
Looks like it is a time for me to have my trials and tribulations. Times like this make you more introspective, and you look at your own life more critically. Time to spend the day looking inward and toward the future. Got planning to do.
