50. What is one thing you are grateful for today?
I'm awake.
The 'Gropenator' is governor-elect (we elected a sexual predator). Dubya and his cronies lie and don't get impeached (Clinton lied and faced impeachment). The Democrats have been so disappointing that I may change party affiliation to Green. I could never support the Republican Party. We have a local supermarket strike, and I will support them by not patronizing any of the three major chains or crossing a picket line. My neighborhood was in chaos this morning as we became more of an island as the result of road closures for the Long Beach Marathon (I had to drive an additional 10 miles to get to a restaurant to meet friends for breakfast). We had no farmer's market today (again because of the marathon). I feel poor as hell as I took time off without pay to cover the time I needed for the trip east, now my reserves are being tapped. All I hear on the radio and TV are the media lies about Iraq, Syria, etc. and they just ignores the truth. I read that Israel has submarines with nuclear armed cruise missiles and that Moussad has set up operations in Iraq targeting Syria and Iran. I'm wondering if the fall of communism was such a good idea. We now face a capitalist regime that has world domination and subjugation as major policies of its ideology. Our freedoms are under attack, Patriot II looms on the horizon. It's not been a good day for me, but I'll remedy that. Time to ride the bike, take some pictures, have a Starbucks, and read the local paper. I guess it's time to start thinking about November 4th and the next election.
Things are looking up. Took a nice ride from Naples to Belmont Shore. Took a few pictures, rode along the canals of Naples, some great architecture on this island. Starbucks and a tall 'light note'. Interesting to note that most of the clients at this Starbucks were engrossed in their own thoughts, having their head buried in a laptop, or studying for an exam. Stopped by the local bicycle shop. Maybe the time to go to bed.
