Reason...and ramblings
Oct. 14th, 2003 08:19 pmIt seems that the more I read, the more I wonder.
We seem to live in an age when reason and purpose are corrupted by ambition. Dubya and his neocon advisors have set a course that does not allow for detours, only to proceed to an end, very close to what many feel is Armagedon. In a recent television special, Dubya was asked if he read what was being written about the war or the economy and he alluded to the fact that he depends on his staff to brief him on what is important.
The citizens of this country have now accepted the fact that politicians lie. The same people who called for the impeachment of Clinton for lying, now dismiss the lies by Dubya and his neocons, as something that is not worthy of comment.
Character has always been a guiding force in our leaders, but alas, our leaders now use spin and deception to convince us that they have character, and we suffer from it.
When will people realize that the sum total of the lies and deceptions they have been subjected to, will be not less violence and terror, but more and vastly horrific terror? We have not defeated the terrorist, we have become players in his game, the difference being we are fighting a force that is growing in resolve, and growing in fevor, and committed to the battle to death. While we see the suicide bombers, we wonder why. Remember, they are committed, they a zealots, they are willing to die for their cause. Are Anericans willing to follow this path? We are masters of the television war, but remeber Viet Nam, another case where a dedicated where a dedicated enemy overcame our resolve. Are we going down that road again?
