a nation divided....an re-edited post
Jan. 19th, 2008 09:32 pmI re-edited this post with some clarifications... I'm still somewhat disappointed with the apparent anointing of Hillary as the 'candidate'...
It seems that we are facing the next election with a whole bunch of special interests pushing their candidate down our throats. We have the 'born agains' going for Huckabee, the 'war lovers' going for McCain, the 'corporate type and those who believe in the Mormon/military-industrial complex' backing Romney. On the Democratic side we have women for Hillary, Peaceniks for Kucinick, the lower and middle class for Edwards, and the people for change for Obama. Can we ever unite after the convention? Speaking from my perspective, can I vote for Hillary? No, I think we need to stop accepting the status quo, the Washington insider, another dynasty of political flavors, we need a person who really represents the people. I think that while Hillary had a great husband who was a so-so president, she's nothing more than another person who will sell our soul without blinking an eye, someone who will compromise our freedoms without fail. I'll vote for her only if the other choice is a theocracy with Mike Huckabee or a state of war under John McCain. If Mitt Romney is the candidate, I may vote Republican. Or, I'll just throw the vote for whomever is the Green Candidate. I will not vote for Hillary, no matter who her vice president is.
