Awake...somewhat
Jul. 12th, 2009 11:14 amAwake, with the sound of the fan running low.
Is the illusion of how great our system of government supposedly is slowly being broken down by the revelation of how many millions are sufferung from lack of jobs, healthcare, and the hope of a future?
I think a few see how bad things are but the vast majority are oblivious until they get that layoff notice, or find they can't get treatment for a sick loved one.
Has humanity left the country? Has society become so un-caring that we do not care about the suffering around us?
Are we failing as human beings?
We need to look closer at what is happening around us. We need to start by providing some dignity for those less fortunate. We can start by facing the truth rather than turning our heads as if we are ashamed. Start by paying it forward. Donate clothing to charities that give direct aid. Give hope. Give a sense that you care. Remember, we aren't but a paycheck or so away from being where these people are.
Enuf for now....maybe time to sleep some more, thankful I have a roof over my head and food in my stomach, and that I have health insurance.

End of the day
Jul. 12th, 2009 06:15 pmThe sun has set, and darkness slowly takes over. I'm out on the deck with the dogs. Heard the coyotes coming down canyon. The local dogs were barking as they passed by. Waiting for moonrise. Didn't do much today, except kill flies ( we seem to have a lot because the horses outnumber people around here ) I wear a lot of REI Jungle Juice to keep them at bay. No ambition this afternoon. Got to rise early to tackle the day, it gets hot by 9 am.
Hope all is well, and that tomorrow dawns as a day full of promise.
