Right now..
Mar. 13th, 2014 04:52 pmRight now I'm relaxing using public wifi. I'm thinking about a post, it will be a longer than normal one. I guess as I grow older and society becomes less tolerant I too become less tolerant. There are a bunch of dumb people out there. I witness more and more every day. Last night there was a community meeting with the Sheriff's Department about crime. In Anza we have problems. Drugs are rampant, auto theft is high, burglary is happening too often. The Sheriff is understaffed and we have a bunch of scofflaws who are too worried about their 'rights' to be lawbreakers to support strong enforcement. I find it comical when you have these 'sovereign citizens' and 'oathkeepers' trying to tell the sheriff to get the bad guys but turn a blind eye whe they want to break the law. I applauded the sheriff for telling them if he sees them breaking the law he will come down on them as hard as he would any criminal. He told some that if one of his officers stops them they netter be ready to produce a valid ID or they can sit in the squad car till such time their identity can be verified. He said that off roading in any vehicle is against the law in the county and if they are caught riding their ATV anywhere his officers will stop and check ID. He said any stop will also be a check for outstanding warrants nd if there is one they will be arrested. He said he will be back for another meeting in three months and he expects improvements.
He lamented about jail overcrowding that was the result of the state moving prisoners from state prisons to local jails. The result has been a revolving door effect as non violent offenders are convicted then released 72 hours later. Now to wait and see what happens next... more to come.
