Today was not a great day. I got news this morning that a friend of mine lost her husband to a heart attack. I know she is devastated, because she loved him dearly. It is hard to imagine how you cope after such a loss.

I know I've lost a lot of friends over the years. I wasn't even out of high school when we lost people I knew. Mostly road accidents but we did have a few suicides. Later the Vietnam War took many others I knew.

As I grow older people dying happens too often. When you get my age you probably have already lost your parents. That is hard enough to take. Remember this. If you love someone tell them often. They won't tire from hearing the words. Cherish every moment, those moments are fleeting. You never know when the end will come it is best to leave this world with no regrets. Live love and share. Don't hold back, that will leave you with regrets and no time to go back and change things.

I understand; saw a friend get run-over in front of the high-school on the way home when I was 17. I knew all the kids involved; Tim died on the spot. 4 more died that year; suicide and car accidents. After that, it averaged about 3 a year until last year. Now I'm helping my wife battle late stage 4 cancer of the pancreas.
