As Serendipity didn't want comment, I'll take her quiz with a post...

1. I never had genuine fun with alcohol or drugs. I drink occasionally and socially but rarely more than beer or wine. My fun is usually drug and alcohol free.

2. Never need drugs or alcohol to have fun. A drink in a social situation sometimes serves as an ice breaker, but not always.

3. No, I see nothing wrong with your answers. Yes, I've seen what alcohol abuse can do to a person, I've lost two friends in the past to alcohol abuse.

Hey, thanks, Alan. My post was actually directed at some young friends who have a whole lot of fun but who seem to base it on drinking a whole lot. They're also successful in their social relationships and work, so their recreational drinking may not be a problem. I just wonder if it might not be a *potential* problem, at least as far as their physical health goes. I mostly just wanted them to take an honest look at themselves, if possible. I couldn't think of any other way to really broach the subject.

I'm sorry about the loss of your two friends to alcohol abuse. :(

Thanks for the reply, yes, I can see a potential problem in the future, as a bad time comes upon them and they seek solace with alcohol. Also, all it takes is one accident or one drunk driving offense to tarnish a sucessful career. We do have one of the lowest blood alcohol percentages in the country. I drink, but age has taught me to know my limits and to put away the keys. Thanks again for the reply.
